At the edge of a forest a figure landed on a high branch and looked out to the clearer area in front of him, he was almost totally obscured by darkness except for the few patches of sunlight breaking through the canopy above him, only managing to reveal little more than the glint of a shinobi headband on his left arm, the headband of the Village Hidden in The Leaves.
The figure looked out to the horizon, seeing small wisps of black smoke rise from the valley a small distance away, the kind of smoke that comes from the burning of a village.
The figure, Guro Katsuda, darted at speeds that only a shinobi could achieve towards the smoke, looking to the naked eye as if he had disappeared, Guro's speed was remarkable and was his edge in combat, but he knew he'd need more than an edge before the sunset, he thought back to when he had received this mission a day ago, back in the Leaf Village, in the Hokage's Office.
"Guro, this mission is very important and must be completed with the utmost speed and effectiveness, do I make myself clear?"
Guro stood in front of the seated Hokage, in the same way he and almost every Leaf Ninja had done so many times before, Guro was simply the most convenient choice, being the most available Jonin that day.
"Pristinely, now what is the mission?"
"Our client is from the stretch of land between the lands that house the Waterfall and Sound Villages, he's an elder of one of the villages in that area, apparently, a group of rogue ninjas are burning down villages in the area, and are killing any inhabitants they come across.
Your mission is simple, head to the area and eliminate every roge ninja you find, I should warn you however, some of them could be S-rank shinobi, and unlikely to play fair, or alone."
"I wouldn't believe they were rogue ninjas if they played fair, I'll simply have to work a bit harder to kill them, thats all."
"In that case, you may set out immediately."
Guro snapped back to the present as he continued running towards the valley, the area he was crossing was virtually flat grassland, so all he had to do was point himself in the general location of the smoke and run. After about five minutes he was halfway there, he found a small hill and stopped at the summit, partly because he needed to make sure he wasn't being followed, and partly because if he exhausted himself before he reached the villge, he'd be overwhelmed almost instantly.

K strolled along the battle scarred burned terrain of the village, looking for survivors but mostly looking for some kind of culprit, he strummed upon his shamisen, the low deep tones in his music matching the tone of the massacre, K was artistic in that way. He stopped before a figure, was it a body? no it was still breathing. He knelt down quickly but the man under him spoke slowly “why have you stopped playing? Please… continue, it was such a lovely song to die to…” he was bleeding rather badly K reacted quickly “sir, please, medical ninja are on the way, I can even summon a very skilled doctor, your not going to die” The man smiled, it was a wise grin of a man who had stood the test of time an encountered many hardships and said “when it’s time to die, a man dies… I lead a good life until now, and my daughter is by now very far from here, she will survive, I made sure of that, I said what I needed to say, so please… if you want to do for me play me a song, a song to die to” K sighed, a shinobi did not have the luxury of choosing who lived or died, whos blood was spilled or who was protected, the mission was all that mattered and K’s had nothing to do with him, he picked up his instrument again and played, with out emotion on his face he sat by the man’s dieing side and played, the feeling of the scene escaping through his notes, a deeply powerful and hauntingly beautiful song, a song that echoed across the crackle of the burning wooden structures and the caw of crows in the distance, a requiem that rolled across the hills of the abandoned stage that this bloody performance had taken place on, dead men lying on the top of their own graves, K could do nothing for them, maybe they were righteous men maybe they deserved to die, all the same he made a difference for that one, a friend to sit by him and a song to die to, such simple comforts, who was K to refuse him them?
As the man breathed his last K stood, bowed simply and walked, having no time to dig a grave. Before K could collect his thoughts a voice called to him “hey their music man, looking for someone?” asked a katana wielding man in gaudy brown clothing “I think hes looking for trouble” Responded another wielding a large axe. Six more behind him at the ready “this is the end of the road, ya long haired pajama wearin’ daisy! I got no idea why but some pretty powerful folk wanna pay top dollar so’s that nobody’s livin’ here, and yer certainly alive here, we got ten guys here all armed to the teeth, we never said we were gonna’ play fair, why don’t you just… turn and run kid?”
K sighed, how deeply frustrating, none of these men were ninja either and thus also irrelevant to his mission, “he got an entire song, but for you there is only one note”
The men just looked at him a tad confused as K threw his precious interment skyward after playing a single note that rang out over the scuffle and K put his hand on one of his swords “Id grab both swords if I were you!” was all the first man had time to say before his jaw was crushed by a devastating upward kick and his body slammed aside by a second from the same leg.
The other men charged but K was faster, turning his body he delivered a boneshattering kick to the spine of one man while striking the other in the base of the neck with his metal hand, the defeated thugs didn’t fall fast enough, K had to kick them out of the way. Another and another fell as K drew his sword blocking the axe of the largest man before leaping skyward and slicing down his back, by the time it was done one man was alive and ran away screaming, but K’s wires found his leg and sliced it clean off.
K’s instrument landed in his hands again as the note finished “one… note…” it all happened so quickly that any observer would have simply seen the men fly apart around him, the observer wouldn’t understand what had happened, it would only have appeared as a shinobi devastating large numbers of non shinobi when in reality it was K who was on the side of good.

Guro heard the sound of a Shamisen note ringing in the air, not knowing what caused it, he was between the Waterfall and Sound Villages however, a sound Jutsu wouldn't be a stretch.
Guro bolted after the sound, but before he could close the gap the music stopped, Guro would have kept going in that direction had he not seen a second plume of smoke appear further down the valley, whomever had done this was finished with the first village and were moving on to their next target.
Guro needed to close this gap faster, so he decided to use a Jutsu, stringing together handsigns and finishing on the Tiger Handsign.
"Ninja Art: Shadow Step!"
Guro felt his chakra channel into specific areas in his body, strengthening and protecting them, Guro dashed towards the smoke at speeds which would normally break a person's neck, which his chakra keeping vis spinal cord an vital organs sheilded, he was safe from harm from using this Jutsu.
The Jutsu worked and Guro reached the village in five minutes, but it was too late for some as the bodies were already piling up, Guro clenched his fist at this travesty and ran into th bruning streets of the Village, looking for any of the rogue ninjas he'd been told to look out for.
He did not need to wait for long, a woman was dragged out of her house screaming by a man wearing a tattered headband, sinc ehe seemed to pay little attention to looking after it, the symbol was obscured by dirt, dust, and fresh blood. The man threw the woamn to the ground as he loomed over her, but his malicious grin was soon wiped off his face when he felt Guro's katana sink into his flesh and burst out from his chest, he gazed down at the blade, not thinking to look back and see the sheer fury in Guro's expression.
Guro retracted his blade sharply from the man's torso, letting him fall to his knees before decapitating him with a swift blow, he pushed the body aside and stepped towards the quivering woman, he extended his hand to her, she stared at it for a minute, before taking it and letting Guro help her up.
"Thank you sir! I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't shown up."
"It's nothing, find a safe place and hide until they pass, I'll deal with any I find."
The woman nodded and ran off to hide, while Guro walked through the burning village, searching for any other rogue ninjas in the area, still clutching his blood-soaked katana.

Inevitably the two ninja, as the largest fish in a river were destined to meet. Though K was hardly stealthy and inconspicuous as he played an instrument while walking slowly out in the open , but this was his plan, how he aimed to draw in ninja and fulfill his mission. After some time alone again K happened upon a disheveled looking ninja with two headbands, what an unpleasant sensation had come over him then, the stench of blood, the dark aura of chakra, the katana drenched in the blood, what K assumed to be the blood of all the corpses around them, K looked at his headbands and recognized the one he wore first and foremost to be one he’d never seen before, there was no mistaking it as far as K could see this was a rouge ninja, K’s mission started now.
He was to bring in this ninja for questioning as to the attacks that had been going on, unlike the hired thugs this one would know the grand scheme of this operation, back up was on the way, all he had to do was engage him in battle long enough for them to arrive.
The wind blew between them pushing dust aside as K stopped playing, putting his Shamisen away in a scroll and putting it in his robes, he swore under his breath “I guess he’ll have to do, but he’s a bit stronger than the rest…” they were now face to face.

Guro heard the sound of a Shamisen echoing over the roaring blaze, it sounded similar to the note he heard before, he guessed that whomever was playing that Shamisen was part of the group attacking these villages, he tried to locate him through the dense smoke, but he didn't need to look for very long before the wind blew away the smoke between them and he spotted the player standing before him.
Guro clenched his sword hand for a moment at the sheer audacity that this person showed after he slaughtered so many and saw it fitting to just stand there.
"I was wondering when one of you would show your pathetic face, no-one will mourn your passing when I send you to the hereafter."
Guro started to gather chakra in readiness to perform a Jutsu, he wanted to let his opponent make the first move so he could evaluate his combat style, then he'd know how best to destroy him. As he gathered his enormous amount of jet-black chakra, wisps of the substance seemed to flow out of his body like a fire in slow motion.

K analyzed the situation, the opponent must have a truly large reserve of some special kind of chakra, or at the very least trying to appear as such, he was a swordsman, something that most cloud ninja generally had an advantage over with their lightning jutsu, but that chakra was somewhat worrying, he couldn’t discern any sort of element rhyme or reason to it from its looks, running in unprepared seemed very unwise.
K drew a handful of oddly shaped kunai from his side pocket and turned his head skyward, the fires and smoke had condensed in the atmosphere creating a large looming mass of black clouds, it was perfect for his jutsu.
Who ever this was he was certainly disrespectful. K looked at him calmly but seriously “Is that so? Well then I suppose there isn’t any way around it, there’s absolutely no reasoning with you people which leaves me no choice to keep fighting until none of you are left standing” He fanned out the strange kunai in his hands and threw them with a flick of the wrist, six landed in the ground at seemingly random points but one was headed strait for Guro.

"Oh please spare me."
Guro used his speed to dash to his right side, dodging the kunai with ease, he stopped for only a moment before dashing towards K, but instead of stopping in front of him, he stopped directly behind him, standing with his back to K's back.
"You'll need to do a lot better than that if you hope to stand a chance against me."
Guro brought his sword arm up and made a movement with his wrist to bring his katana into a reverse grip, before releasing a backward stab, aiming directly for K.

Ordinary ninja would be impressed with his speed, but K was no stranger to extreme dashes himself his experience and his electrical clairvoyance let him see the attack coming quite easily.
K smiled "my my, ninja aren’t about attacking directly, you should know that by now" K needed only to turn his free hand to block the kunai, the metal blade clanging against his metal hand which then griped around the blade with what was quite literally an iron grip. “your fast to but I’m having trouble guessing your element, let me show you mine” With that K let some lightning escape the gem in the palm of the hand that held the opponents blade sending electricity though his hand to the blade to the handle to the hand of his opponent, nothing serious, just a painful shock would result.
While this was going on the square ends of K’s kunai which were now stabbed in to the ground opened up, a small glowing seal revealed inside facing the clouds above, it was clear he was planning something from those kunai, clear that his real attack had yet to come.

((Rasher, it was the katana, not a kunai that Guro attacked with))
Guro groaned as the lightning shot up his katana and up his arm, this slaughterer was taunting him, and he'd have none of it.
"You want to know my element do you? Does this give you a clue?"
Guro channeled chakra into his katana's blade, creating an invisible solid edge to the weapon, his idea was to damage this ninja's prosthetic hand so that it would be beyond use, or at least to release his weapon.

((my bad but it’s the same concept for K’s actions weather it was a sword or a kunai))
K was more experienced than that, he knew not to stick around after delivering an attack so instead, after the shock tactic was done he leapt away with his taijutsu strength legs landing in the middle of all his kunai just as the opponents blade was being charged with chakra.
“I think Id rather not at such a distance”
K said in passing as he threw down two hand seals so that each of the eight kunai stabbed in to the ground around them discharged lightning in a trip wire like current of lightning between each and every one, if his opponent was thinking of using his erratic speed jutsu he’d have to think again now.
“from your speed and your chakra flow, Id gather that you’re a wind element, but the shade of your chakra disagrees with that… your obviously some kind of bloodline user…” he sighed performing three more hand steals and holding the last one.
((for the record wind chakra flow cant damage metal but it cleaves though just about everything but metal and fire, also K’s hands are chakra reinforced metal so even if the hit had been made it wouldn’t have destroyed them))

Guro returned his katana to a normal grip as the tripwire Jutsu was activated, Guro weighed up his options, he could try to jump over the tripwires and attack his opponent, but that would leave him open to counter-attack, he didn't have a lot of ranged Jutsus, and his best one right now was impossible with no water in a burning village, Guro knew he needed to get past those tripwires.
"Is this it? you've left yourself stranded, nowhere to run from the horrors I can unleash."
Guro stabbed his sword into the dirt so it stood upright on it's own, then began running off a series of handseals, holding at the Tiger.
"Ninja Art: Demon's Call!"
Guro fed the images of his Genjutsu into his opponent's mind, an image of the burning village descending into hell, black skies looming overhead as demons of all shapes and sizes burst from the ground an advanced on the ninja, Guro replicated everything down to the eerie stagnant air and aimed it for the ninja's mind. Should it work, by the time he'd realise, he'd be well and truly under its spell.

K laughed "I don’t need to run after you! I don’t even need to see!"
He undid his headband and tied it around his eyes "demons eh? do your worst!" he released the hand seal sending lightning down from the smoke clouded atmosphere down in to his kunai in a terrifying display as he sat blindfolded using his lightning clairvoyance jutsu to "feel" the world around him
"but lets make it more interesting, how about for every demon you call out with that dark feeling chakra of yours that I defeat, blindfolded no less Ill put away a piece of leg armor" Using his wires he pulled the electricity from the lightning strikes to his fingers and then to his lightning gems K was fully charged and acting quite cocky, though this was only a ruse to stall his opponent long enough by baiting them in to a fight
Also K wished to hide his vision from thease demons, though this was an old superstition that eye conact with one would cast a powerfull spell

Guro did not speak as he was focusing on his Genjutsu, instead, he communicated through his Genjutsu, making the sound come from all directions and reverberate in the hopes of disorienting his opponent.
"At first I thought you were cocky, but now I can see your stupid, you cannot defeat an army of demons, I do not care what you have up your sleeve."
Guro emphasised his point with a roar from one of the demons, making it sound directly next to his victim.

K smiled "Ive had worse, Im from the Kinkaku force" K was inwardly shaken but really he had faced high ranking summons on his own before, but something was very strange, he heard demons, everything about the sound and the heat was real but he couldent "feel" them using his electrical clairvoiance anywhere, and judging from where the sound was coming from one had to be in range
K decided to take a calculated risk, alowing thease 'demons' to make their first move "Bring it on then!"

((sorry for the slow posting, college is working me stupid right now and I don't get a lot of time, should calm down when I get some of these assignments done))
"As you wish."
Guro knew he had to get him away from those tripwires if he was going to face him, so he decided the best way to do that was to make him believe the most tactically sound thing to do was just that, so Guro began creating images of a mound of earth was forming directly below him, adding flesh consuming insects trying to burrow out of the mound for added effect.

As K was already blindfolded he didn’t see any of this, simply he just stood there feeling hearing a verity of scary sounds. "hmm... interesting I don’t 'feel' anything... yet I can hear these demons, and smell them... Im sure if I took of the blindfold Id see them... but they have yet to attack... could this be perhaps, a genjutsu?"
K's thoughts were interrupted as a band of lightning nin rushed in on the scene, K's reinforcements and soon he flet a hand touch his back and all the sounds died away “K-sama! You were in an illusion, reinforcments have arrived!”
K smiled and removed his blindfold “I was just figuring that out myself, thank you for coming so quickly”
His subordinates looked a bit confused and said “K-sama… who is this?”
K explained “from one of his two headbands I guessed he was a rouge ninja, but from the other he could easily be from the leaf, watch out though he has some strange rare bloodline about him…”
One of the men in their ranks, a fuinjutsu user who carried a lot of scrolls pointed out “the symbol on his first headband isn’t that of any currently existing factions or clans, likely he is a leaf ninja”
K looked Guro over again and thought for a moment “I see.. Proudly looking for rouge ninja like myself… this was all a misunderstanding… and here I was ready to go all out” he gathered his Kunai up “from what you said to me that must be true, otherwise you wouldn’t have spoken for those dead here… well since the leaf is already here we’ll dispatch a salvage team, medical team and tracking team of hunter nin to the area and file a report”
One of his attendants reminded him “K-sama don’t forget your meeting with the village elders to discuss the new arrivals at the village, then after that your students will be ready to meet you after the academy, we’ve got enough men here to handle this, please return at once… we’ve prepared a wire for you” he said gesturing to a long pole with a wire on the top stretching long in to the distance with other such poles. “orders from the raikage”
K nodded and leapt up to the pole in a single bound standing on it “well then, sayonara leaf nin” he said throwing down a hand seal “if you are a rouge ninja Id take advantage of our confusion and get away now, I trust my team and there’s no way one man could survive against them, however you fought cautiously enough, and your intentions were the same as mine, hopefully we can solve this sometime soon” and with that K seemed to disappear down the electrified wire far out of sight as many ninja from the cloud poured in putting out fires, helping the injured, burying the dead, and looking for clues as K whent on to more pressing matters

((That ended FAR too quickly, so I'm going to continue and open the doors for anyone else, if your a Lightning Ninja you could be part of the group sent after K, or you could simply be sent to investigate if your from another Village))
If K had not disappeared so suddenly, Guro may very well have decapitated him, he had just fought him in a potentially fatal match and then decided to leave once help arrived as if nothing had happened, if Guro was anything but a Leaf ninja, he'd have annihilated the Lightning Ninja as a message to K.
Guro's musing was interrupted when the sky turned pitch black, Guro felt the air grow heavy, the tell-tale sign of a huge amount of Chakra being expended, Guro calmed himself and reached out with his senses, trying to distinguish anything that would give away an attacker, the disorganisedmovement of the Lightning Ninja made it difficult to distinguish a single source of Chakra, until he felt a huge build up of chakra from very close to his position, he looked around, to come from above was suicide, so there were only two viable options, from any direction around him, or...from below.
"Get off the ground now!"
Guro jumped as soon as the earth below him began to disappear inside itself, creating a gigantic vortex that began to consume nearby buildings, Guro landed on the burnt remains of a very deep rooted tree, watching as anything or anyone, dead or alive, who was unlucky enough to be near the area were dragged under.
Guro could not see the user of this Jutsu, so he assumed he was underground, he needed to draw him out but he was unsure how, then fate seemed to favour him, as an underground lake was disturbed and then revealed by the Jutsu, Guro saw that the sodden ground around the lakestopped moving, telling him that the user of this Jutsu couldn't control wet ground, Guro leapt onto the surface of the water and began running off handseals.
((I'll leave the Lightning Ninja for Rasher to control since they are really his))

((real mature of you, K will deal with him later on its not my fault if he was needed elswhere)) The cloud ninja were faster, using their lightning jutsu to plow though the earth and use it as grounding to send shocks at the source of the jutsu, effectivly negating it an attacking the newcomer at the same time, with their vast numbers the resulting shock would have been enugh to stun a creature eight times the size of a man easily

((tbh mate most people agree that threads are set at different times, the actual time passed between threads depends on the agreed timeline but for threads with no real correlation, its considered a month or two, obviously it needn't apply if its in a different area and uses different characters, so if you wanted, you ould have been in both threads since we can agree that neither of us wanted our character to die.
Anyway I'm rambling and I'll start posting now))
Guro watched the Lightning Ninja shock th eground in an atempt to negate the Jutsu, when the ground stopped moving, it seemed to have worked, but the fate of the user was still unclear, so Guro kept his final handseal ready.
Sure enough his suspicions were shown to be true as the ground at the epicentre of the former vortex burst in a huge explosion, a huge rocky shape bursting out of it and landing in a huge cloud of dust. Guro peered as the dust settled and made out the shape of an immense man, half covered in a layer of earth.
As the dirt fell of the shinobi more of him was revealed, he was exceedingly muscular but hunched over, almost making him look like a gorilla in shape, his matted, loose brown hair fell to his shoulders and his huge arms almost touched the ground in his hunched state.
The shinobi chuckled, a grim deep chuckle that showed just how much he reflected his element, his voice seemed to be made of gravel.
"Lightning Ninja huh? I've been looking for a challenge, besides, me and my "associates" client is paying a lot of money for every severed shinobi head we bring back to him, you already eliminated some of the others, so I guess more money to go around. Now how can I resist a chance such as this?"
The shinobi started to make handseals in quick succession, stopping at the Boar, soon slowly increasingly violent tremors began to emerge from the ground, interrupted by a pillar of Earth rising from the ground under the shinboi, who stood on it perfectly.
"The answer is, I can't, I am Aranashi Akosanumo, and you all, are my prey!"
Aranashi started making more handseals and begna chanting, the words were indistiguishable, but the purpose was clear as huge chunks of sharp rock began to rise up from the ground and hover next to him, aimed at various other ninja, Aranashi stopped chanting and grinned maliciously as he prepared to attack.
"Chaos Water Style: Chaos Water Shark Bomb Jutsu!"
A huge shark made of water burst from Aranshi's right, covering the spikes of earth in dense water, the ones that weren't shattered on impact were eroded by the constant beating of the ever changing waters. Aranashi backflipped from his pedestal as the Jutsu hit it with the force of a rampaging bull elephant. the two cancelling each other out.
Guro released the handseal and stood to face Aranashi, who chuckled when he saw the headband on his arm.
"Leaf Ninja? That will fetch me an even higher price."
"Then prepare for disappointment, I am a shinobi of the Village Hidden in the Chaos, I fear no beast or man, and I especially do not fear you."
"Well then, Chaos Ninja, show me what your Village can do. Earth Style: Hammer of the Stone Giants!"
Aranashi plunged his hand into the earth up to his elbow (which wasn't hard with his hunched posture) and began to withdraw it, when his hand appeared, it was clutching a shaft of solid rock, before lkong, the shaft was released from the ground, and on the other end was a huge hammer head, shaped out of rock, bearing a kanji symbol for "Earth" on either side of the sculpted head, Aranashi took a firm grip and help it ready for combat.
Guro had already prepared for his move, body crouched low, sword hand back, sword point facing enemy, free hand forward along the blunt edge of the blade in a claw shape. Guro had done this countless times, combining elements of his Taijutsu and Kenjutsu styles together so that he could effortlessly switch should the need arise.
((That should set the stage, I should say this guy will be dead by the end of this thread (and so will a lot of other faceless rogue-ninja NPCs, so a character sheet and such will not be required. And Rasher, if you want, you could use that new character of yours as part of K's relief force, seeing as she is a Lightning Ninja.))

((Lightning ninja will not be needed... Aidan's coming to mop up the mess!))
A ninja wearing a white robe walked into the battle stricken clearing, looking around. "Is the ninja with the metal hands here? No? Well, then..." His legs spread slightly apart, as he made a few hand seals. "Fire Release: Flaming Drift!" He raised his hand back, and then threw his arm forward, as if he were throwing a baseball. A glob of fire, behaving oddly like a liquid, was launched out of his hand at the back of Aranashi. It was barely even a jutsu to register though: his true intent was revealed when he leapt up with the Lightning shinobi, before performing several other hand seals. "Wind Release: Needles of wind!" The air around him coalesced into little needles of wind chakra, which he launched at the rogue ninja.
