Fumiko Hoshigaki, the current Mizukage gazed dully out of the window. The rain streaked glass blurred the images of the people of her village, scrambling to find shelter from the rain. Silently, she wished she were out there with them. Now that she had finally reached her goal, it seemed she didn't do anything anymore. This was a time in her life that she had reached a plateau and there was a good chance, she wouldn't leave it either. She needed some action. Even if it meant someone were after her life.

A shadowed figure came to the Mist Village through the heavy rain, face and body obscured by a black hooded travel cloak, as the figure approached the Village Entrance two Mist Village guards moved to block entrance inside.
"And just who might you be? No-one gets into the Mist Village without authorisation."
The figure let out a distinctly male brief chuckle at the guard's hostility, then brought his hand up in a flashing arc, the guard reached for his kunai but stopped when he noticed that the figure was in fact holding a paper in front of him, the guard took the paper and read it, the figure then spoke.
"Authorisation like this perhaps?"
The guard looked from the paper to the figure and back again, a detail of his business in the Hidden Mist was written on the bottom, then spoke to the figure.
"Strange request for them to make, don't you think?"
"Why ask me? You should know that people in our line of work do not choose our missions, especially in this case."
"I guess so, well, she may be busy, but come with me and we'll see if she's willing to go along with it."
"Very well."
The guard walked towards the Mizukage's office, the figure following closely behind, a glimmer of light caught the figure's forehead, briefly showing a headband and a sliver of the figure's face, the headband's symbol was unusual, a circle with an eight pointed star in the middle, eight curved lines that ended in arrows sprouted from the circle and curved inwards to stop directly above the star's points.
The guard finally reached the Mizukage's Office, the figure was directed to a seat while the guard went ahead to inform the Mizukage of the figure's arrival, he came to the Mizukage's door and knocked three times before speaking.
"Lady Hoshigaki? May I come in, an emissary from the Leaf Village is here and is requesting an audience with you, he has brought the details of his mission, and it's a strange request from the Leaf in my opinion."

Footsteps fell in the hallway, alerting Fumiko of another presence in the building rather than her own. Two sets of footsteps in fact. From the heaviness of the footfalls, she concluded that they belonged to two men. Quickly pulling her Kage garb over her head, she smoothed out her hair quickly and placed her hat on her head as someone knocked three times.
"Lady Hoshigaki? May I come in, an emissary from the Leaf Village is here and is requesting an audience with you, he has brought the details of his mission, and it's a strange request from the Leaf in my opinion." the familiar voice of one of her guards queried. Raising a brow at his statement, she opened the door and nodded an acknowledgment to her guard, before averting her look to the cloaked stranger. Narrowing her eyes into a critical stare, she dismissed her guard with a wave of her hand.
"Please do come in sir." she said, almost startled by the cold sound of her voice. This was the most she had spoken in quite a while. "Tell me now what brings you here."

"Very well."
The figure walked into the office, closing the door behind him and pulling down the hood of his cloak, the figure was a young man with long brown hair tied back into a ponytail, on his forehead was the headband with the strange symbol, black cloth held it in place.
"I am Guro Katsuda, Lady Mizukage, as the guard informed you, I am here on a mission from the Hidden Leaf, it is a strange one yes, but a mission nonetheless.
The Leaf Village wants to strengthen ties with the rest of the Hidden Villages and create new alliances if possible, so, as a symbol of mutual trust, the Leaf wants the leader of every Village to have their combat capabilities documented together and put in a neutral location. To accomplish this, they have sent Jonin such as myself to every Village, to report on these capabilities through single combat, not to the death, but simply until forfeit or non-fatal knockout. I don't think the Leaf is quite willing to sacrifice the lives of it's Jonin in this matter."
Guro had stayed standing all the time he was speaking, expression blank, he wasn't sure how the Mizukage would react to this mission.
"Of course, should you deny the Leaf's request, I can't really do much about that can I? So it's your call, Lady Mizukage."

Fumiko mulled over this strange, yet intriguing proposition, weighing out all its pros and cons before making her decision. Mutual trust, they said? It sounded like recorded data on each villages weaknesses, making them more prone to attacks. Then again, there was a good chance they wouldn't be able to record the full extent of each of the Kages' powers and this whole idea would be for naught. Locking eyes with the messenger, she sized him up. He couldn't have been much older than she. Konohagakurei definitely put a lot of trust in him to send him here. What made him so special as to trust him with a mission like this? Her lips curved into a semblance of a smile and she nodded curtly.
"I accept." she said coolly, "Now where shall we hold this-- battle?" Looking at the neatly organized stacks of paper, she determined she'd rather fight outside of the village. Preferably near a large body of water in a secluded area where no one could interrupt them. Just thinking about this match made her anxious and ready to get out and fight again. It would definitely be something she would enjoy.

"If my studies of the area's geography is correct, there is a small valley to the northwest, still within Mist Village territory, in this valley is a large lake dotted with small islands and rocks surrounding a forested main island, this island also has a small dormant volcano, fear of it erupting keeps most people away, we should be undisturbed there.
And it would also seem the rain is dying down, so we should be able to fight almost immediately, when you're ready, send a messenger and I shall meet you on that island.
Now Lady Mizukage, until then, farewell."
Guro left the Mizukage's Office, then walked out into the Village, putting his hood back up again, he had been travelling for three days, and has gotten bored of rations and food pills, he was dying for a good meal.

“Madam, are you quite sure you want to go through with this?” one of her advisors squeaked as Fumiko packed up the last of her ‘essentials’ and tied her Kirigakurei forehead-protector on tight. Rolling her eyes pointedly at the question, she shrugged on a jacket over her black, turtle-neck shirt and reached for the doorknob, hesitating for a moment. Turning back and giving the man a smug look, she nearly smiled.
“When am I ever not sure?” she said, before exiting her office, feeling her heart almost flutter. A fight… a real fight. It excited her so much she was finding it hard not to contain it. If she were to suddenly shout for joy, she was certain that a number of villagers and Shinobi would be frightened for her health and their own. Confident that her messenger had found the Konoha Shinobi, she sped towards their meeting place, eager to find him there.

Guro was just leaving the restaurant when a messenger skidded to a halt next to him, the rain released its last few drops then ended, the sun started breaking through the thick clouds.
"Lady Mizukage requests your presence, she says she is ready."
"She didn't take long did she? I had best get going then."
Guro kept his hood down, he wouldn't need it, he ran through the Village and was soon beyond its walls, he leapt oto a tree branch and started jumping from branch to branch, his time in the Leaf had gotten him used to moving through trees and he had become quite good at it, after a few minutes he has halfway there.
Guro started thinking about the fight, Fumiko Hoshigaki was the Mizukage, and was a descendant of Kisame Hoshigaki, if someone couldn't tell from her appearance, if she was anything like her descendant, he'd have to keep on his toes just to keep up with her, he might be abe to learn a couple of new Jutsu, but that was mostly down to chance when you ended up with a Jutsu like Guro's.

Surveying her surroundings, Fumiko smirked confidently. This type of terrain was perfect for her fighting style. This young Shinobi was in for a nasty surprise when he’d realize that he’d given her even more of an upper hand. Not that she needed it though. Kneeling down at the water’s edge, she summoned her faithful confidant Kizaru. As the smoke cleared, Kizaru gave her a one eyed stare and cracked a grin. His several rows of teeth glistened in the little bit of sunlight that broke through the clouds. A low, rumbling chuckle broke the silence.
“Well, well, if it isn’t my little Mizukage.” He said in his usual raspy, bass voice. Fumiko rolled her eyes and splashed him, hoping to shut him up before he made any other smart remarks. Kizaru didn’t mind the water a bit, but he got the hint that his comments weren’t wanted.
“Listen Kizaru,” she said in a serious and demanding tone, “Konoha wants to build trust between villages and is therefore sending messengers to fight the Kages and record their strength and abilities. My opponent should be here any minute.” Kizaru barked a laugh, sending droplets of water flying everywhere.
“That’s ridiculous if you ask me.” He said, chortling all the while. Rolling her eyes, she gave the shark an irritated smile, flashing her own toothy grin.
“I agree, but now’s not the time to joke.” She said, “Just stay hidden, watch the fight and notify me if he tries anything suspicious.” Kizaru gave a nod-like gesture and sank below the water, disappearing into the murky lake. Now that she had everything she needed in place, she was ready to go.

Guro leapt out of the forest and skimmed across the water, heading straight for the meeting point, the air felt different, weightier, Guro knew this usually meant the presence of a considerable amount of chakra, not suprising considering Kisame's reputation for an enormous chakra level, Fumiko would have most likely got quite a bit as well through her heritage, but then again, so did Guro.
The weighting of the air usually signalled chakra being released, so she must have used a Jutsu already, didn't matter to Guro, whether he won or lost was ultimately irrelevant, he had to test Fumiko to her limits.
Guro dashed across the water, rapidly approaching the Mizukage, which he could see waiting on the beach, Guro gripped his travel cloak and threw it aside, underneath he had been wearing his normal attire of a thin grey coat, black gloves with metal plates on the back, a black belt with red diamond shaped buckle, black trousers and black boots reaching to just below his knees, on Guro's right arm a Leaf headband with black cloth was tied, and tied to his left side was a katana with a black scabbard.
Guro made several handsigns and drew his katana, then he held hid left hand to the blade.
"Ninja Art: Chakra Edge"
The blade glowed for a moment then dimmed, satisfied with the invisible extra inch or so he had added to the blade, Guro rushed toward the Mizukage at full speed, katana raised. He called out to Fumiko.
"Let's see how well the Mizukage fights then, shall we?"
Guro leapt just as he reached the beach, aiming a left to right slash at Fumiko, the invisible edge would most likely catch her by suprise if she decided to show off and cut it close.

(sorry it took so long! I've been quite busy)
Grinning devilishly to herself as she heard the approaching figure, she stood perfectly still as if she hadn’t heard his footfalls on the water or his shouted challenge. Closing her eyes and letting pure instinct take over for a split second, she dropped low at the last second into a feral crouch, lunging away to the left. Opening her eyes, she saw a few strands of her hair that didn’t quite make the dodge fall to the water below. Pushing up into an erect position, she backflipped away and almost lifted a hand to her head. No—she wouldn’t, letting the hand drop, she shook her hair ever so slightly and sighed.
“There’s more to that blade than meets the eye isn’t there friend?” she said, her voice hinting the slightest bit of mischief. Chuckling low, she withdrew one of her Kusarigama and began twirling the scythe end of the weapon. The image could have been daunting and rather intimidating to many. Her wardrobe was much like the classic shinobi’s; Dark colored, form-fitted and sure to cover almost all of her skin, topped with a modern, armored flak vest. Her smile was cold, unfeeling and revealed two rows of white, triangular, dagger-like teeth that could very well serve as weapons themselves.
“It seems I’ll have to resort to long-range combat rather than short-range then.” She said. With that said, she spun the scythe head faster before releasing it towards his head. Although she was sure Konoha wouldn’t be too happy about a dead messenger, she had figured she should fight with killing intent anyways, just to keep her opponent on his toes.

((I'm just glad you're here at all, i was beginning to worry I had wrote something that had chased everyone off))
Guro arched his body back, swinging his head out of the way of the attack, he felt a trickle of blood fall from his right cheek, he rolled to the left and stood up again.
"So that how you want to play it huh? Well I guess I have to oblige the Mizukage."
Guro dashed towards Fumiko, using his speed to close the gap quickly, flipping his katana in his hand to a backwards grip, he swung it at Fumiko, while stealthily reaching into his pack for a kunai knife, she wanted to play it rough, and he was happy to provide her the entertainment she wanted.

Arching away from the blade, she barely missed the chakra edge as it caught just a tiny bit more of her hair. His speed was rather impressive, and this chakra blade had proved troublesome. Gauging from the position of the blade and from the direct spot it seemed to slice her hair; she put a rough estimate on the length of the chakra extension. Her mind worked like lightning as she quickly twirled the weighted side of the chain for momentum and sent it crashing towards his kneecap.
“You’re a fast little devil.” She muttered. Somehow, with her weapon of choice, she could incapacitate him early on in the battle and be through with it. She was determined to keep as much from the other villages as possible.

Guro was expecting this, he spun with the first attack for momentum and threw the kunai at Fumiko just as she was landing, he just caught glimpse of the weapon aiming for him, he hadn't enough time to get out of the way, thinking fast, he swung his katana in the way of the weapon, the wepon missed hitting him by millimetres, but the chain wrapped around the katana blade.
"Dammit, I've got to get this chain off my blade, or I'm gonna have to expend more of my chakra to beat this woman, which means less tries with my best Jutsu, if I could just force her to use Ninjutsu..."
Guro pulled at the chain with his blade, hoping to either break it, pull it out of her hand, or pull her with it if he was lucky enough, which he doubted, he just hoped she wasn't as strong as her ancestor apparently was, or he would have entered a tug of war he was not going to win
((so yeah, for future reference, I use italics for thoughts and the like))

Her opponent tugged uselessly on the chain that had tangled itself around his katana. Nearly stopping to roll her eyes and laugh at this pitiful attempt to best her physical strength she pulled hard on the chain, confident to fling him forward toward her and an awaiting fist that she’d send plunging into his gut in hopes to stun him for a moment. If I can finish this as quickly and painlessly as possible, maybe I’ll be home in time for dinner, she mused silently to herself. ((me too ))

Guro was unable to react before Fumiko pulled him towards her, and only had enough time to tense his stomach muscles before her fist connected with his gut, he avoided anything serious, but the sheer strength behind the punch caused him to fall onto one knee, he had to get her to use Ninjutsu, and fast.
Guro stood up and reached behind his head for the knot of his Chaos headband, tightening the knot, the headband gleamed in the sunlight, the symbol in sharp contrast, Guro had been taking care not to kill her, but now he had to go at full battle intensity to keep up, she'd still be alive by the end of the battle, but she would not be leaving unscathed, Guro started to shuckle.
"You truly are Kisame's descendant, I see I'm going to have to stop fooling around, you'll find i'm not so easy to beat as you think."
Guro started gathering chakra and concentrating it, it started to become visible as parts started to leak out of his body, his Katsuda genes turning the chakra jet black, and his huge levels of chakra making more of it visible.
Guro jumped away from Fumiko, his katana slipping free of her chain as he did, he landed and made the Tiger handsign to focus his chakra, he then made a quick series of handsigns, ending at the Rooster.
"Ninja Art: Demon's Call!"
Guro fed the images of his Genjutsu, the ground around the lake cracking and falling into hell, the hordes of demons surrounding her, even the breath of the demons, he poured every last detail into his Genjutsu, now he had to wait and see if she fell for it.

Fumiko gave Guro a stone-cold glare. The Kusarigama was no longer spinning. Glancing around, she watched the world around fall into hell. Bringing her burning gaze back to her opponent, the Kusarigama began to spin in her hand again with an increasingly high velocity. Crouching low, she looked like a hunter, ready to pounce.
“Don’t ever compare me to him again.” She hissed through clenched teeth. Jumping high into the air, she sent the scythe end crashing down towards Guro. It wasn’t intended to kill him, not even hurt him really. This attack was mainly to get a point across.
“That piece of trash may have been my ancestor, but I am nothing like him.” She seethed, “He betrayed his homeland, his comrades and everything we Kirigakurei-nin value. If I ever hear you mention his name ever again, I will show you true hell.”

((Your back! YAY!))
Guro broke the Genjutsu and rolled to the right to avoid the weapon, his Genjutsu may have been broken but he still had plenty of chakra left, the fight had only just begun.
"Very well, let's see just how hellish each other can be"
Guro unleashed his ferocious speed to close the gap, looking as if he was going to attack, then he suddenly slid through the sand and stopped behind Fumiko. Guro quickly used the momentum to turn round and aim a leg sweep at Fumiko.

((hehe yeah, sorry I’ve been gone so long. I’ve been HELLUH busy))
Fumiko couldn’t quite dodge the attack in time. Only able to get one foot off the ground before Guro’s leg made contact with her ankle. Grinding her teeth as she fell, she tucked her knees into her chest and rolled the landing, sprang back up to her feet. The maneuver wasn’t quite as graceful as it normally would have been considering she still had the excess momentum from her weapon pulling her askew. Grabbing both ends of the Kusarigama and steadied herself.
“If you survive the ordeal, that is.” she spat, putting her Kusarigama back. Performing a series of handseals she took a deep breath, preparing for the jutsu she’d unleash. “Water Release: Great Exploding Water Colliding Wave!”
Massive amounts of water erupted from her mouth and sent colossal sized waves at Guro, also sweeping up a good deal of water from the lake. With a swift motion of her arms, the water formed into a large orb as she cried, “Water Prison Shark Dance Technique!” Now acting as the center of the massive water dome, she pulled out both of her Kusarigama and ran at Guro, trapping him in the dome along with her. If she couldn’t kill him with brute force, he’d drown, unless he managed to escape the dome.

Guro had been planning to release a debilitating punch into Fumiko's gut, but missed by millimetres, he had to stand up quick to jump from the Exploding Water Shockwave, because of the nature of the Jutsu he found it incredibly difficult to copy it, he needed her to use a more directly attacking Jutsu for his to work.
Guro couldn't dodge the orb, and quickly got caught in the Jutsu, she was trying to kill him now, and he was starting to think she just might, he was going to need help, if he could just break this Jutsu...
Then Guro had an idea, if he could just draw her and her Jutsu to the tree tops that were above the water, the interference from so many branches may just be enough to break the Jutsu, but he'd have to do it quick, he couldn't hold his breath forever.
Guro started to slowly move in the direction of the trees, disguising it as trying to find a way to attack her, her Kusarigama would be sluggish in the water, meaning he should be able to dodge her attacks easier now.
